HHS UPDATE: Texas Medicaid Provider Re-Enrollment

Date: 02/06/17

As a requirement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), providers are required to re-enroll in the Texas Medicaid Program.

The Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) required receipt of provider re-enrollment applications on or before September 24, 2016. If a provider submitted the application timely, but has not received approval (application is still in process), Superior received confirmation from the Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) that those providers will remain "enrolled" in Texas Medicaid, until the application is processed.

TMHP will not terminate the provider’s Medicaid enrollment if the application was received by the September 24, 2016 deadline.

All providers whose applications were received after September 24, 2016, and are still in process, were dis-enrolled from Texas Medicaid by TMHP on February 1, 2017.

Note: Providers that did not submit the Texas Medicaid application for receipt by TMHP before the deadline, and have not received confirmation of application approval from TMHP, should assist their Medicaid patients to seek another Texas Medicaid provider for services. Dis-enrolled providers should not render services and cannot be paid for services provided to Texas Medicaid members.

HHS has communicated that all submissions are responded to in the order they were received. Depending on the date the application was received, the provider may have a gap in Texas Medicaid enrollment beginning February 1, 2017, until the date the application is approved. Once applications are approved, the provider will be re-enrolled in Texas Medicaid.
