Since 1999, Superior HealthPlan has steadily grown into a statewide leader in healthcare, now offering nine unique products to more than 1.7 million members across Texas. Yet Superior’s mission of transforming the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time, has remained unchanged.

Quality. Since 2015, Superior HealthPlan has been one of the top-rated Medicaid plans in Texas, earning a rating of 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale on the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings. This includes a rating of 3.5 for 2024.
Member satisfaction. According to a 2023 survey, 85% of members said they were satisfied with how quickly they received care. Additionally, more than 94% of members said they were satisfied with Superior’s customer service.
Focus on the individual. With 3,200 employees across the state, Superior is focused on the members we serve in all 254 Texas counties. We believe in whole health, delivering a full spectrum of care from physical to emotional wellness. This makes it simple to get well and be well.
Active local involvement. In 2023, Superior and its employees donated nearly $1 million in funding to organizations that support members and individuals from low-income families and neighborhoods.To learn more, read Superior HealthPlan’s 2023 community investment report.
Hygiene closets. Since 2020, Superior has donated $550,000 to help organizations and schools establish hygiene closets. The closets are stocked with essential items like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste, which are available at no cost to individuals across Texas.
Foster care. In partnership with the State of Texas, Superior became the nation’s first managed care organization to provide health care to children in foster care. The program has led to improved access to checkups, behavioral health and other important services.
Anthony was going to the emergency room at least once a month. With Superior’s help, that’s no longer the case and now he's back to doing what he loves the most.
In 2022, Superior and Centene joined Community Health Development, Inc. (CHDI) to organize a Wellness Fair for Uvalde. More than 1,000 people attended.
