The Power of Preventive Care
Date: 05/16/24
Having regular checkups or well-visits for you and your child with your primary care provider (PCP) helps keep you healthy and catch illnesses early on.
Annual checkups are a great time to:
- Build a relationship with your PCP.
- Get caught up on vaccinations.
- Discuss any new health concerns that have come up since your last visit.
- Review prescriptions and update if needed.
- Get lifestyle advice about how to improve your overall health.
Checkups and well-visits are also important to track children’s growth development. Their PCP will make sure they are reaching milestones that are important for their age, such as when they start walking or talking.
Try to make the most of your appointment. Use Superior HealthPlan’s PCP Appointment Checklist (PDF) as a guide to ensure you get the care you need before, during and after your appointment. If you need help finding a PCP for you or your child, use Superior’s Find a Provider online tool.
