Important Changes: Your SafeLink Wireless Lifeline Service and the Affordable Connectivity Program

Date: 05/13/24

Lifeline and The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) are federally-sponsored programs that provide a discount on communication services to eligible individuals and families. Eligibility is determined by income and/or participation in state or federal support programs. Through ACP households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. Through Lifeline, SafeLink subscribers are eligible to receive wireless service with a specified number of minutes and data.

There are important changes to the SafeLink Wireless Lifeline service and ACP which may impact you.

Changes to the SafeLink Wireless Lifeline Service

Due to the loss of funding from the ACP, SafeLink Wireless may experience limitations in its services. While SafeLink Wireless and the Lifeline program will continue, you may face longer wait times, reduced benefits, or changes in service quality. We want to ensure that you have access to the communication services you need. We recommend the following next steps:

  • Visit the SafeLink Wireless website for the most up-to-date information about your Lifeline service and any possible changes.
  • If you have issues with your SafeLink Wireless service, contact their customer support for assistance:

Find other Lifeline providers in your area by visiting the Lifeline Support website and using their Companies Near Me tool. This is located at the top of their website.

Changes to the ACP Broadband/Internet Program

As of now, funding is also impacting the discounts for broadband/internet services. If you currently receive broadband benefits through the ACP, visit the ACP website to learn about the impact of these funding changes. You can also explore alternative low-cost broadband options.
