Mental Health Awareness Month
Date: 05/31/23
What is mental health, and what are the best ways to take care of your mental health? Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, Superior wants to help you learn more about mental health and provide some tips on managing it.
Depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses can affect your mental health and how you interact with others. The National Institute on Mental Health defines mental health as your social, psychological and emotional well-being. It affects how we think and feel. It also affects how we interact with others.
Here are a few tips to help manage your mental health:
- Talk with someone you trust. Talk with a family member, friend or counselor about what stressors are going on in your life.
- Get active. Walking and exercising for at least 30 minutes a day boosts your mental health as well as your physical health.
- Talk to your healthcare provider. If you feel that you can’t manage your stress on your own or are suffering from depression or anxiety, talk to your provider about the best options for you.
At Superior, we want to help you manage your mental health. We provide members with an online tool as an extra benefit that helps support your mental health and overall well-being. You can find out more about this benefit by visiting SuperiorHealthPlan.com/VAS or calling Member Services.
