Effective August 1: Medicaid Removal of PA Requirement for Podiatry Surgical Services and Procedures

Effective August 1, 2022, Superior HealthPlan will no longer require prior authorization for surgical services and procedures rendered by a podiatrist for Superior HealthPlan Medicaid (STAR, STAR Health, STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS) members. Texas Medicaid benefit limits will continue to be applied to claims submitted for podiatry and related services, as specified in the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual, Medical and Nursing Specialists, Physicians, and Physician Assistants Handbook, Section 9.2.60.

As a reminder, surgical services and procedures delivered by a podiatrist for Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan (Marketplace) members do not require prior authorization.
