New STAR Health DME Provider Partnership

Effective February 1, 2021, Superior HealthPlan will begin a new partnership with Arrow Health Solutions, a division of Arrow Child & Family Ministries (Arrow). Superior STAR Health (foster care) members will be able to receive quality Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplies from Arrow. Their extensive experience with the foster care population allows them to be the primary DME service provider for Superior STAR Health members in Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller and Wharton counties.

Founded in 1992 by a former child in foster care, Arrow serves children and families with medical needs within the foster care community. Arrow is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and has provided trauma-informed services to more than 30,000 children and families for over 28 years. With more than 100 professionals who serve the foster care community spread across 10 Texas locations, Arrow has a unique understanding of Texas communities and the specific needs of foster children and their families.

  • In 2008, the company launched its own Primary Medical Needs (PMN) program, led by an Arrow employee who is widely considered a subject matter expert in the field and authored many of the current standards of care for the PMN population. This has projected Arrow as one of the leading providers of service to foster children with PMN in Texas.
  • In 2017, Arrow was awarded the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Commissioner’s Award of Excellence for ensuring DME products were delivered to foster children who were isolated during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

The partnership between Superior and Arrow will ensure that STAR Health members and their families receive timely, professional service and quality products to help meet their needs

Members are highly encouraged to use Arrow as their DME service provider, based on their expertise in serving the foster care community; however, members will retain the ability to choose their service provider. There is no change in the process for utilizing Arrow or any other DME provider based on this initiative.
