Yes. Superior HealthPlan is a Medicaid managed care organization that delivers Medicaid benefits in Texas. When you qualify for Texas Medicaid, you can choose Superior as your health plan to coordinate your coverage. Superior administers programs including STAR (families and children), CHIP (children), STAR+PLUS (seniors and people with disabilities), STAR Health (children and youth in foster care), and STAR Kids (children with disabilities) through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
To get health insurance in Texas:
- Texas Medicaid/CHIP: Apply at YourTexasBenefits.com or call 2-1-1 if you have low income, are pregnant, have children, or have a disability.
- Marketplace: Visit HealthCare.gov during Open Enrollment (November–January) for affordable plans.
- Employer: Enroll through your workplace benefits.
- Private Insurance: Purchase directly from insurance companies year-round.
- Call 2-1-1 for free help determining which option fits your situation.
Step 1: Apply for Medicaid or CHIP eligibility
- Online: Apply at YourTexasBenefits.com
- Phone: Call 2-1-1
- In-person: Visit your local Health and Human Services office
Step 2: Choose Superior HealthPlan
- Once approved for Medicaid or CHIP, choose Superior HealthPlan by calling 1-800-964-2777 or using the health plan selection form in your enrollment packet. You'll receive your member ID card within 10–14 days.
Find providers that accept Superior HealthPlan:
- Online: Use the "Find a Doctor" tool on Superior’s website—search by ZIP code, specialty, or provider name.
- Phone: Call Member Services at the number on the back of your member ID card.
Superior's network includes primary care doctors, specialists, hospitals, dentists, mental health providers, and pharmacies throughout Texas. Always verify acceptance before scheduling and bring your member ID card to appointments.

Support for Superior Members Affected by Severe Weather, Wildfire, or Other Natural Disaster
If you are a member of Superior HealthPlan and are located in an area affected by severe weather, wildfire, or other natural disaster, there are services available to help you.
All Superior members who live within the official disaster designated counties and who may need to replace necessary medical equipment, services, or supplies should seek replacement through any available supplier. If you cannot find a supplier, call Member Services to find one for you. Your supplies will be replaced even if you are temporarily outside of the county in which you live.
